The Puerto Vallarta season kicks off 2010/11 in grand style.

November is always a busy month and the unofficial start to the tourist season . This November was no exception and saw a host of different event s through the resort town including the international Marline y Pez Vela Festival (Marlin and Sail Fish), the international Gourmet Festival, a UN sponsored event on immigration along with a conference on attracting international tourism to Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.

The international Copa Vallarta which celebrates Gold at Vista Vallarta golf course was also held in the month of November. Finally Club MaƱana the leading gay and lesbian disco in Mexico and a leading member of the local community is hosting the 4th annual Vallarta Fever event which draws tens of thousands of LGBT visitors from a far afield as Vancouver, New York, Chicago and London.

For children, the Annual Winter Soccer tournament was hosted seeing thousands of visitors from around the world take part in this annual event that sees children form ages participate to winner the much coveted Vallarta Soccer Cup. For those looking for something a little different the Volkswagen expo saw many VW enthusiasts dust of their Safaris, Bochos (bugs) and Combis and take a trip down memory lane. One might easily have thought that Puerto Vallarta had been transported back to the 1960s.

The city has seen some difficult times recently with the outbreak of the swine flu and the economic collapse of the US economy led by the disintegration of bank assets. While 2009 was a slow and painful year for many in Puerto Vallarta, the 2010/2011 tourist season looks promising.
